Strangely, smacking children seems to be bad for them. The only positive effect seems to be that they obey quickly, i.e., it's more convenient for the parents. Who'd have thought?
I've been thinking about Minority Report for a while, wanting to say something but not knowing what to say. But I think I have it: The only way you could enjoy this movie is if you actually were surprised that someone could mess with the system. Unfortunately, it's not really possible to be surprised about that. Oh well.
Oh, and on the "you learn something new every day if you have an internet connection" tip: Vexillology is the study of flags.
Now I must watch Farscape and stuff polyester fill into tiny quilted holiday ornaments.

There are a bunch of other facts that I can pull up to add credence, but it's essentially because of how my dog looks at me when she first wakes up in the morning. I knew it before I got her, but now I really know it.
