An interesting idea, the execution of which I hope improves: So what can I do? It's a blog that lists specific, concrete things you can do to make the world better. See also Open Letters for Change.

In that vein, a friend had recently asked me how to change the world. Since she knits, I thought she'd like to see this: Knit A River. It is a textile "petition" composed of donated knitted squares, asking for clean water and sanitation. Weeks Ringle mentioned it on Whip-Up.

Credit where credit is due: the Bush administration has done something good for parks and I agree with the Texas Public Policy Foundation that the Texas state budget is too obscure.

Poll finds melange of random public opinions on energy; nation reels. Read the article or not, as you wish. I just like the title.

Interesting idea on how to reduce water consumption.

That's all for now. I spent all weekend sewing, including sewing my own finger with the machine (ow!), and yet I have not finished the pink and purple quilt. Back to the grindstone tonight.

Water consumption -- remember the great Houston Drought of 1980? You were only allowed to sprinkle your lawn at night. I think they should make that a law everywhere forever.

BTW, pity from here for the sewing injury.
